Even with AntiVirus - You are at risk!

Each night Architel technicians check to see if the Symantec virus profiles were updated to ensure our client’s systems are protected.  According to a report by eWeek, Symantec’s antivirus can actually put users at risk of a worm attack.  If supporting complex servers wasn’t hard enough, now the very software designed to protect them is putting them at risk.  The exploit gives you “complete access to the machine… allowing anyone to remove, edit or destroy files at will.”  Lots of authorities are posting warnings including eEye:

Symantec’s anti-virus software is deployed on more than 200 million systems in both the enterprise and consumer markets, and the threat of a network worm attack is very real. However, eEye’s Puterbaugh said there are no publicly shared proof-of-concept exploits or other information to suggest an attack is imminent.
